It was drizzling right from the morning and the tree-lined studio in Jubilee Hills was covered with remnants of the day. Soon, actor Nagarjuna Akinneni picked up a broom along with dozens of others and cleaned up the place with determination. The garbage dump near the studio was also cleaned up by the actor who was accompanied by his two sons, Naga Chaitanya and Akhil and wife Amala.

By noon, the litter was collected in black plastic bags and stashed outside the gate and whole area appeared as if it has been cleaned and washed.
I am doing my bit for Swacch Bharat campaign. I want to make the movement big in a graduated way. I wanted a low-key beginning without the tamasha so that it achieves its goal instead of becoming a publicity stunt, said Nagarjuna, wearing a tee with #nag4swachhbharat written on it, as he watched the drizzle clean up the place.
The actor, who was nominated by businessman Anil Ambani for the Swacch Bharat campaign, said, This is not an act or a one-time event, it is a translation of my pledge to keep the neighbourhood clean, create many more ambassadors and collaborate with like-minded people across the region to expand and sustain #SwachhBharat movement.
I have spoken to people who are active in the field and working for a cause and then nominated them to ensure that the movement of clean India reaches its optimum level. I spoke with Mujeeb, Mazher and Krithiga Reddy and others then I nominated them after they expressed their willingness (Allu Arjun, Sudeep, Major Shivkiran, were the other nominees). Gopichand was supposed to be here, unfortunately he is abroad, said Nagarjuna, as he expressed a wish that his fans will take inspiration from his action and take up the campaign in their areas.
I do not have a blueprint about how we are going to go about this but we are working on it. I am clear that this is the right time to do this, he said. Fine! Whoever litters the place with even a small thing will be fined. The cameras will be watching you, Amala Akinenni told a bunch of assembled workers, showing the seriousness with which the Swacch Bharat Campaign has been taken up.
